Purity Springs is a small, hidden spring in my neighborhood.  It is often used by locals, including the homeless, as a place to cool off and hang out.  It is the last remaining spring in Tampa that is open to the public, but most are unaware of it. To celebrate its neglected beauty, and reference the transformative/mystical properties historically associated with Florida’s springs, I photographed it as a portal of light inhabited by a guardian.  This work was made in collaboration with artist

Mikaela Raquel Williams.
